CDC upgrades fire-fighting capability

CLARK FREEPORT— Officials of Clark Development Corporation announced the upgrading of the firefighting capability of the state-owned firm with the acquisition of a modern firetruck worth P29 million capable of handling emergency situations, even on high-rise-buildings at this Freeport zone.
CDC Vice President Frank Madlangbayan of the Operations and Technical Services said the procurement of the new firetruck from South Korea necessitated because of the increasing number of investments, including construction of high-rise here and nearby Metro Clark areas.
With the arrival of new equipment for the Public Safety Department of CDC, Madlangbayan said the state-owned firm has now three firetrucks that can be dispatched should there be emergency in the area.
Madlangbayan also said that CDC is also coordinating with the nearby Local Government Units for augmentation purposes vis-à-vis emergency cases should CDC’s assistance is requested by local officials and their respective fire department.
PSD Manager Nick Targa added that 12 new firefighter staff were added and presently undergoing special training on fire-fighting on tall buildings and the operations of the new modern firetruck.
CDC was compelled to procure new firetruck because of the proposal of new investors to construct high-rise buildings in the near future following the approval of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines allowing the construction of tall buildings west of the Freeport area here.
Even before the approval of CAAP, Madlangbayan said there are already several high rise structures in Clark which include Oxford Hotel, Texas Instrument, Holiday Inn to name a few thus the need of a modern firetruck.
CDC will continue to upgrade its services and facilities to compliment the growing number of investors and locators in Clark, and the expected entry of more new investments in the near future, Madlangbayan said.
